Description
Porsche Cayenne 957, VW Touareg & Audi Q7 Rocker Panel Chop Plates
Bigger tyres on a 957 usually mean the front of the rocker has to go. From around 33″ up, the front tyre catches the leading edge of the rocker at full lock and when the suspension compresses. Trimming it fixes the rubbing, but it leaves the hollow rocker open to water, mud and dust, and that’s how rust starts. The same goes for the first-gen Touareg and Q7, which share the platform.
Weld-in steel plates close it off properly. Each plate is shaped to match the trimmed rocker. Weld it in, seam-seal and paint it, and the inside of the rocker stays sealed.
The factory fender liner still goes back in, so the wheel arch looks standard and mud stays where it belongs. It’s a permanent change that needs cutting and welding, so a panel beater or fabricator is the right person for the job.
Bigger tyres are usually the first step on a 957 build, like the ones our Cayenne 957 Boot Rail System is made for. These plates make sure that first step doesn’t leave you with a rust problem a few years later.
